Escalating demands for cyber-incident response and investigations amidst the pandemic require strategic collaborations to keep vigilance tight.

The worldwide shift to remote-working attracted a surge in cybercrime, uncovering security gaps in many organizations, especially small businesses. New attack surfaces also facilitated new ways for cybercriminals to commit financial fraud, for example.

To this end, global speciality insurer Canopius has in place a cyber-incident response panel to run investigations, respond to cyber breaches and offer other services to bolster their customer’s cybersecurity capabilities.

To bolster its outreach, the insurer entered into strategic partnerships with other cybersecurity firms. For example, a four-year-old cybersecurity firm, Pragma from Singapore, had been on the insurer’s incident response panel to help its customers respond to cyber breaches across Europe and Asia.

Luke Johnson, Cyber Claims Manager, Canopius said: “We are pleased to continue to have Pragma on our panel of the top-quality cyber incident investigation and remediation firms. They have provided excellent service since joining our panel since 2017 and we look forward to many more years of them serving our (clients).”

Said Geoff Leeming, one of the co-founders of Pragma: “Having a global team helps us respond rapidly to breaches and get our customers up and running as quickly as possible. For an organization that has just suffered an attack, the priority is to get back to business as quickly as possible with minimal damage. The most efficient way to do so is ‘rapid recovery to the cloud.’”

Leeming was referring to his firm’s secure cloud platform. When a breach happens, Pragma provides an option for the client to recover their operations to the cloud rapidly to reduce downtime while meeting security compliance requirements such as Monetary Authority of Singapore Technology Risk Management (MAS TRM) Guidelines.

Apart from responding to incidents, Pragma helps customers to secure their systems to make sure they can block future attacks if any. This includes cyber awareness training, assessments to measure cyber maturity and security tests to discover network weaknesses.
